  9.     A day before he was to die in Georgia's electric chair, the
  10. born-again convict won a stay of execution and a commutation
  11. of his sentence to life imprisonment. Joining the model
  12. prisoner's campaign for clemency were some of the relatives of
  13. the man he confessed to killing in 1974.
